Texas Hill Country Youth Commercial Dorper Show and Sale

  

Rules

2024 Show

  • All youth involved must be junior members of the THCDA. 
  • Age for members will be Grades 3-12 as of Day of event in September held in Fredericksburg. 
  • All sheep shown must have a validation tag that will be issued by Youth Committee. 
  • **** Deadline to order tags will be April 1, 2024. ****
  • Tags will be mailed to exhibitor.
  • The cost of tags is $10 each and must be ordered in multiples of 5.  
  • Entry & tag order are completed using the form above, exhibitor will be invoiced for the cost of the tags.
  • Exhibitor can validate as many sheep as desired, but only 1 pen of 3 will be eligible for show. 
  • Sheep must be Dorper or White Dorper, or a direct cross of Dorper and white Dorper. 
  • Validation deadline is May 1, 2024.  All exhibitors will receive an email with a link to provide the required pictures of the sheep.  Photos are due by May 15, 2024.
  •         A head picture of sheep with a visible validation tag in ear
  •         A body picture of sheep 
  • Sheep can be validated in a household family name. Only 1 pen of three per member . 
  • Age of sheep need to be no younger than 8 months old and no older than 2 years old at time of show. (No sheep older than 2 years of age will be sold). Sheep will be teethed to determine age and no ewe with more than 2 permanent teeth will be eligible.
  • Sale order will be random draw or determined by committee.  
  • All sheep shown will be required to have a scrappies tag in place before arriving at show.
  • All sheep will be required to have current health papers.
  • Each exhibitor will be required to present a record book that will include an expense summary. Other suggestions will be finalized by committee. Record book will be turned in at check in.
  • Each Exhibitor will be required to go through an interview. Will be finalized by committee. 
  • Scoring for awards will be as follows:
  •      Pen of 3 = 30%
  •      Record Book = 10%
  •      Interview = 60%
  • 3 division will be as follows (based on their grade 2024-25)
  •      Junior: 3-5 grades 
  •      Intermediate: 6-8 grades 
  •      Senior: 9-12 grades 
  • Sheep will arrive on Thursday with other show/sale sheep.
